Job Summary:

In this role, you will be working within Global Operations / Technical Operations focusing on West’s high-profile Automation Strategy. A key focus of the role is to ensure that West and the Automation Core team remains on the forefront of automation technology, the relevant advancements within this space, insure the West Automation strategy is current to existing and relevant processes and related equipment. This position will oversee and ensure the successful implementation of automated processes, harmonizing automation across the global network, creating and presenting to executive leadership periodically; and driving the direction of automation in parallel to the company goals. The successful candidate in this role will work as an effective change agent within the automation strategy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guide and direct the Automation Center of Excellence in support of the company goals related to the initiatives and projects outlined
  • Develop new insights into challenging situations and scenarios, while encouraging innovative ideas and designs to advance the company’s automation program
  • Identify areas and assess the company’s existing process to implement best practice automation and lead the harmonization efforts across the global network
  • Actively stay abreast in all industries leading best practices in the automation space, as well as, gain an understanding of the competition to identify new opportunities
  • Lead the development of a strategy to integrate material (R/M, WIP, & F/G) handling automation to the planned automated production cells
  • Develop effective checkpoints, goals/metrics to determine company success for the automation strategy
  • Oversee the automation integration across the global network and ensure all systems and processes meet all compliance standards
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ related, progressive experience, minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree highly preferred
  • PMP certification
  • Experience in a regulated industry is a plus
  • Experience within automated manufacturing or similar in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of automated material handling, AGV’s, and AR/RS warehousing a plus
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times
  • Black Belt certification

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel approximately 25% of the time
