Job Summary: Direct and execute Human Resource strategies and initiatives for client groups including strategic training and development, staffing, employee relations, talent management culture and employee engagement. Responsible for leading the local site HR strategy as per the Grand Raids site transformation plan. implementing policies and programs encompassing recruitment, benefits, compensation, training, worker’s compensation, safety, and organizational development. Key liaison between employees and the company to provide a world class workplace. Key liaison with corporate HR to ensure alignment and delivery to the Contract Manufacturing (CM) & Devices/global HR strategy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Key member of the local site leadership team with responsibility for developing and driving the  site HR strategy.
  • Key member of the CM & Devices HR leadership team, ensuring alignment with the HR strategy for the network in addition to the sharing of best practice and collaboration on strategic initiatives.
  • Manages and oversees performance and talent management process and programs, individual development plans and succession planning activities.
  • Consults with and advises managers on employee relations issues such as employee disputes, terminations, EEO, harassment, disciplinary action, policy interpretation, advising management on personal and policy matters.
  • Consults with and liaises with all corporate COE’s a required (e.g. legal, comp & benefits, talent acquisition, learning & development).
  • Identifies and develops recruiting strategies to attract competent individuals, reduce hiring cost and turnover. Facilitates and manages internal job postings, opportunities for promotion, new employee orientation.
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures in a consistent manner, which comply with applicable laws and regulations.  Advises and mediates regarding policy interpretation to managers and employees. Recommends revisions and/or new policies as necessary.
  • Develops and leads the new employee onboarding program and recommends revisions to the program as necessary.
  • Prepares documentation and participates in litigation matters such as EEOC, workers’ compensation, unemployment. Attends all depositions and hearings.
  • Manages and recommends job classification, ratings, pay grades.
  • Acts as a champion of workplace continuous improvement, including employee engagement and culture initiatives.
  • Develops and administers special programs and projects to include employee awards, pay equity, health and morale. These may include recognition and award programs, events, safety and health fairs, fundraising campaigns, and other activities.
  • Provides assistance in managing and influencing change management, HR leadership, record management, turnover management.
  • Assists with implementation, enrollment, and responding to inquiries regarding employee benefits programs.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations. Coordinates and supports audits and reviews for compliance to training, record keeping, documentation and other HR related regulations.
  • Assesses and develops training programs and acts as a facilitator in delivering effective employee development programs.
  • Manage the administration of payroll, training, HR systems and benefits programs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all laws, regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation and environment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience:

  • Education desired: Bachelor’s
  • Experience desired: 11+ years
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business or related field from an accredited university preferred. Master’s degree or MBA advantageous.
  • Experience: 10 Years of human resources generalist experience, couple with 3-5years + of site leadership/HR representation.
  • Proven experience facilitating training and development programs
  • Experience in leading a small team of HR professionals, 3-5 years of supervisor/management experience may be required.
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, DDI certifications
  • Experience with HR business systems (i.e. Ultimate, PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors, SAP HCM) and MS Office applications
  • Experience in culture and engagement initiatives and solutions (i.e. Gallup, Kenexa, IIP, Best Places to Work)
  • Prior pharmaceutical and manufacturing experience in an industrial setting is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws that apply to HR
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond timely to changing requirements, and to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of worker’s compensation, ADA and unemployment regulations and reporting, ISO9000, FDA and cGMP requirements.
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.
