Job Summary:

Maintain, troubleshoot and continuously improve facility equipment to help achieve facility’s business goals and objectives. Work with engineering in design and installation of equipment.  Assist operations with setup and processing to set parameters.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain IMM, Assembly Lines, Automation, Facility, and Auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment; take necessary steps to document changes.
  • Identify the problem by reading schematics/prints, where available, and make necessary repairs on the equipment or system to ensure safe operation of the machine or system
  • Evaluate existing electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and/or systems, looking for methods to improve performance, efficiency, reliability or accuracy
  • Fabricate capabilities, weld, machine tool, hand tools, read and draw prints, and program.
  • Work as engineering liaison to:
  • Implement new processes & equipment
  • Improve existing processes and equipment
  • Optimize molding/assembly/facility equipment functions
  • Provide modifications or improvements to existing procedures and documentation
  • Perform PM’s on drives and control systems
  • Provide training in skills and abilities of expertise.
  • Implement/execute preventative maintenance measures
  • Provide technical advice or assistance, as directed by supervisor, to other West Pharmaceutical Services engineering personnel or to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist other groups on individual customer quality problems that relate to the equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste within the production environment.
  • Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation and environment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

 

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Trade School Degree
  • Experience: 6-10 years
  • Degree relating to electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems OR related experience with similar equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of coursework and/or experience with hydraulics, calibration, PLC’s and injection molding machines
  • Experience with cGMP, ISO, and medical device manufacturing preferred.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent Electrical/Electronic and PLC troubleshooting skill on various platforms
  • Knowledge of machine operability and mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate problem solving process.
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Limited if any travel

 

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from various locations within facility. 
  • If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues. 
  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet. 
  • The ability to be able to lift and carry various items up to 50 pounds
