Job Summary:

Maintain, troubleshoot, and continuously improve automated equipment to help achieve the facility’s business goals and objectives. Work with engineering in design and installation of equipment.  Assist operations with production setup to set parameters.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain automation associated with assembly equipment, injection molding machines, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and pneumatic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, power supplies, drives, valves, solenoids, and cylinders.      
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Maintaining logs of both preventative and routine maintenance as required
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste within the production environment.
  • Work as engineering liaison to:
    • Implement new processes & equipment
    • Improve existing processes and equipment
    • Optimize molding and assembly equipment functions
    • Provide modifications or improvements to existing procedures and documentation
  • Provide technical advice or assistance, as directed by supervisor, to other West Pharmaceutical Services engineering personnel or to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist other groups on individual customer quality problems that relate to the equipment.
  • Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workstation and environment at all times.
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Education:  Trade school or Associates Degree preferred relating to electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience: 2 years minimum in an industrial technician role.
  • Experience with troubleshooting plc and robot programs is a plus. 
  • Experience with cGMP, ISO, and medical device manufacturing preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to read/interpret electric and pneumatic schematics to perform equipment troubleshooting and repairs. 
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times.
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.
  • Ability to follow all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they relate to the position covered by this Job Description.

 

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from various locations within the facility. 
  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet. 
  • The ability to be able to lift and carry various items up to 50 pounds  
  • The job focus is at the manufacturing facility.  There is limited, if any travel requirements.
