Job Summary:

Plan, organize, and manage multiple tooling projects of varying degrees of complexity to meet the tooling and machining needs of the Upper Darby tooling and manufacturing facility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use CAD/CAM software to interpret tool drawings and generate & validate the 3-axis programming needed in support of mold and/or die project component fabrication.

• Provide leadership and training in the programming and program analysis process and guidance for Designers, Toolmakers, CNC Operators, CMM Technicians, and others in the tool fabrication and inspection process as needed.

• Program for production efficiency, create new approaches/concepts when necessary, eliminate outdated tool designs and machining processes as appropriate.

• Assist in the troubleshooting of programming/machining issues presented on the shop floor.

• Utilizing SolidWorks PDM Pro to maintain tooling design and programming files and all associated documentation for each tool and program created.

• Support manufacturing activities as needed on all CNC equipment.

• Inspect provided drawings and/or hand sketches for errors and omissions. Initiate discussions with appropriate colleagues to correct errors and obtain/provide missing information as needed per current procedures.

• Provide timely and proven CNC programs to the Milling and Lathe Department to meet workflow demands.

• Assist in developing machining fixtures as needed to support efficiency and throughput.

• Review existing machining programs and update to macro-based/streamlined programming as appropriate.

• Review all processes/procedures relative to available technology and generate ideas to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner.

• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment to minimize near misses and injury incidents, contribute to WPS’s permanent goal of improving safety performance, and demonstrate safety awareness both on and off the job.

• Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions, and all safety rules.

• Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.


Basic Qualifications:

• High School or equivalent

• Technical College or Apprenticeship preferred

• Machine / Job Shop: 3-5 years of experience


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• SolidWorks CAD and Master CAM programming proficiency


Travel Requirements:

• Limited travel requirements


Physical & Mental Requirements:

• Frequent standing, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and walking. Must be able to work with items weighing up to forty (40) pounds.

• Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations.

• Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve and prioritize.

• Ability to make independent and sound judgments.

• Effectively use written and verbal communication skills

• Read and interpret data, information and documents

• Analyze and solve problems
