Job Summary:

In this role, you will effectively plan and guide the Engineering department’s automation assets ensuring quality product, operational efficiencies, mentorship, and sitewide support.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to ensure that the plant’s machinery and processes are at an optimum level
  • Manage and oversee the functioning of the site’s engineering groups
  • Conform with and abide by all company policies, work procedures, and safety regulations
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff engineers and routinely evaluate employee performance
  • Provide and schedule training for the engineering personnel as well as other site employees
  • Write validation reports, user requirements, equipment specifications, and other documents
  • Write PER (Project Expenditure Request) and project financial justification documents
  • Develop design concepts for new Automation equipment
  • Research new technologies and methodologies to employ across the site
  • Maintain equipment drawings and software revisions
  • Promote and support a Lean Manufacturing environment within the facility
  • Improve processes and procedures to manufacture a quality product at an anticipated cost
  • Secure quotes for new automation lines, engineering services, and replacement parts
  • Establish relationships to develop suppliers and perform audits as needed
  • Act as an administrator of the maintenance management software
  • Ensure scheduling tools and supplies are available for the engineering department
  • Facilitate meetings both internally and externally to determine customer specifications
  • Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards
  • Deliver presentations to management and internal customers to attain project approvals
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor's in Engineering or Technological field
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience
  • 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, workflows, production equipment and industrial techniques
  • Must have effective problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a command of written and spoken English

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong electrical and mechanical background preferred
  • Experience with CAD and SAP systems a plus
  • Six sigma green belt or Lean Champion preferred
  • Experience with programming robotics or PLCs is a strong benefit
  • Medical device manufacturing experience and FDA familiarity is desirable

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time

 

Physical & Mental Requirements:
