Support West’s drive in providing technical leadership and offering scientific insights by proactively developing knowledge of industry & technology to understanding and addressing the technical regulatory requirements in region. Support the Scientific Affairs Mgr in China, to proactively identify and review new or changes in YBB/JBB or China Pharmacopeia tests and requirements, conduct impact analysis and cascading them to the respective owners across the West enterprise serving as the subject matter expert herein.

Serves as a technical consultant over the application and processing of  West’s portfolio, offering support  to internal and external customers, taking charge of the Technical Services Lab (TS Lab)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Services Lab Management

  1. Manage the operations of the lab

  2. Offer technical advice in test methods developed and equipment qualification

  3. Develop business cases to purchase new analytical capabilities and present to management for approval

  • China Pharmacopeia/Agencies

  1. Evaluate and assess the impact of changes in YBB/China Pharmacopeia test methods and disseminate the info with key stakeholders

  2. Support Scientific Affairs, China over scientific advice in policies, guidances and test methods as well as draft guidances released by CDE, China

  3. Engage in collaborative studies with agencies and institutions

  4. Build relationships and network with key technical & opinion leaders in industry and our customers

  • Scientific Insights

  1. Initiate technical studies to generate scientific evidence

  2. Conduct technical studies to establish scientific evidence, hence insights over West’s portfolio

  3.  Serve as coordinator for the preparation of scientific articles for journals

  • Technical leadership

  1. Support TCS in investigation and troubleshooting in applications of West’s portfolio

  2. Serve as consultant to technical enquirers raised

  3. Support in the execution of the lab filling and services offering for region

  4. Have an in-depth understanding of and be able to communicate/educate the team on the fundamental testing and technology related the specified area of expertise

  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications: 

  • University or Postgraduate degree in Chemistry  with abt  8 – 10 years’ experience in the materials, rubber or thermoplastics industry

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Packaging or Biotech industry

  • Acknowledged industry expert at targeted technology area

  • Knowledge in Materials Science and Chemistry


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in Lab testing  

  • Bilingual with good command of oral and written English

  • IT savvy

  • CGMP knowledge

  • Project Mgmt skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Mature and ability to work independently.                                                                                                             

  • Aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description

  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target

  • Support and contribute in Safety programs and activities in the Plant as well as comply with the company’s safety policy at all times

  • Comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.
