Job Summary:
As a member of the global product management team, the Product Management Director for Asia Pacific is responsible to develop, lead and execute the portfolio strategy for existing products and services in Asia Pacific to further strengthen West’s market leadership position in the region. Working in close collaboration with the regional and global stakeholders, the incumbent will also translate market and customer insights into solutions that resonate in the region and help deliver on the financial objectives set for the region. This role will plan and direct all aspects of the product and services portfolio for Asia Pacific, including resource management, successful commercialization of new/transferred products and their life cycle management. In addition, the incumbent will also craft the strategy to further drive conversions and adoption of products transferred to the Asia Pacific region. The individual will ensure that external focused communications leverage on the West enterprise wide integrated system capabilities for drug containment, administration and delivery. The successful profile will be a person who demonstrates strong leadership, communication, commercial acumen, drive for results, and can implement strategies and drive organizational consensus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage product technology transfer within Asia Pacific manufacturing network and product technology originating from West sites outside the Asia Pacific region.
    • Collaborate with quality, regulatory and operations to ensure smooth transfer and minimize customer disruption
    • Oversee one direct report responsible for project management of process
  • Oversee and manage the portfolio of component products and services available in the Asia Pacific region
    • Actively work with global product management team to integrate the Asia Pacific portfolio roadmap with global product line strategy for new product introduction, product upgrade/lifecycle extension and discontinuation
    • Position products within the portfolio to respond to customer needs, market segmentation, competitive landscape, and new opportunity spaces to maximize the value captured for West.
    • Build pricing and value capture strategies, and drive execution in collaboration with internal business partners.
    • Lead long term portfolio specific strategic planning between commercial and operations.
  • Lead lifecycle management and commercialization activities related to components platform
    • Identify new opportunities based on input from strategic marketing leads, voice of customer, market insights and technology partners, trends (e.g. digital), therapeutic needs analysis, forecasts, overall business value, risks and product/service needs. 
    • Translate product ideas into defined product/service needs to Innovation & Technology (I&T) with detailed user requirements, design inputs, specifications, regulatory requirements, technical needs, value drivers and warranties.
    • Develop business cases in partnership with market units, I&T, Legal, Operations, Regulatory, Quality and other departments to justify investment of capital and resources.
    • Lead core product development team along with I&T and Marketing, to take products from ideation, to concept and through the transition from development to industrialization of full commercial offering.
    • Collaborate with market units on Go-to-Market plans including training, communications, campaigns, sales tools and tactical efforts.
    • Prioritize Technical Services projects defining scientific positioning and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain in development of manufacturing strategy providing guidance regarding long term product line strategies.
    • Responsible for long-term demand forecast of assigned categories.
    • Provide business and commercial justification for capital expenditures and support operations capital/resource development and approval.
  • Provide internal and external field support for the portfolio and on assigned strategic account teams including global responsibility.
    • Drive collaboration with technology partners, contract manufacturers (CMOs) and other industry leaders to improve scientific understanding and enable customers with new West technology.
    • Participate in collaboration with Scientific Affairs with industry associations, present at industry forums, publish trade journal articles and support educational series.
    • Provide strategic direction and build content with Corporate Communications on product communications including articles, social media content, advertisements, digital content, etc.
  • Working knowledge of regulations and new guidance’s, standards such as ISO, and new market trends especially around combination products/medical device regulations.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Other assignments as developed and assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical area i.e. biology, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, etc.
  • Minimum 10 years of marketing experience, preferentially B2B, and in markets that require a high degree of technical knowledge, brand selling and regulatory requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant product management experience.
  • Demonstrated increasing levels responsibility in Product Management, Strategic Marketing, or Business Development.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • MBA or equivalent degree must be coupled with good technical experience and business acumen.
  • Strong knowledge of injectable drugs, market trends and device administration technologies will be highly advantageous


Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time
