Job Summary:


In this role, you will lead the engineering team to achieve safety, quality, and production targets within the proprietary product value stream. An effective balance of tactical activities and strategic initiatives must be met to sustain day-to-day production while overseeing and leading the execution of projects to increase capacity and commercialization of new products. Using Lean Six Sigma methodologies, identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives for equipment and manufacturing processes. Coach and mentor technical teams, including engineers, technicians, and operations staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor engineering team to achieve site and department goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Champion high-visibility projects. Develop project scope, timeline, return on investment, etc.
  • Write validation, user requirements, equipment specification, and other documents as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainable manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Ensure production lines are meeting their targeted output and OEE.
  • Provide engineering assistance to assure plant, machinery, and processes are at optimum levels.
  • Technical and hands-on equipment troubleshooting, repair, and improvements.
  • Drive and lead the use of lean and six sigma tools and techniques in everyday problem solving and process improvement activities.
  • Analyze data to drive improvements, determine prioritization, and identify opportunities.
  • Actively support proprietary program initiatives with direct customer interactions.
  • Institute and ensure implementation of training programs to ensure personnel are proficient in performance of assigned duties.
  • Routinely evaluate and review employee performance.
  • Implement engagement plans and initiatives to motivate teams to achieve established goals.
  • Must have good communications skills to engage all levels of the business and the ability to simplify complex technical language, in simple, short, easy, mediums that provide credibility and understanding to the associated activities.
  • Research new technologies and methodologies to use in the plant.
  • Provide timely notification to site team of maintenance and down time issues.
  • Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in people management.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment.
  • Experience performing acceptance testing and validation for new automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of best practices in manufacturing processes, workflows, production equipment and industrial techniques.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with data analytics and statistical process control.
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills.
  • Able to comply with all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position.
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD design (ideally with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks).
  • Experience in medical device industry or other regulated industry.
  • Experience in developing data analytics, reports, and dashboards, especially in Power BI.
  • Experience developing and performing DOEs and Gage R&Rs using Minitab.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform job duties as required with limited physical demands within clean room manufacturing requirement.
