Job Summary:

The Engineer will be responsible for the execution and development of Pharmaceutical Container Systems in alignment with the overall R&D strategy from conceptualization through development and transfer to manufacturing.  The Engineer will contribute to developing and implementing current and new products, developing and validating test methods and procedures, and application of design control methodologies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Collaborate with internal and external team resources to implement new products and develop new products and technologies:
    • Apply good engineering principles to facilitate product development, test engineering, and product support initiatives.
    • Utilize strong analytical skills to aid in the generation of design inputs/specifications that translate to customer user needs and market requirements.
    • Provide technical input to internal designers on products, processes and tooling.
    • Develop and execute design feasibility, design verification, and validation of test methods
    • Ensure timely execution of project assignments in compliance with project timeline, budget and goals.
    • Prepare detailed technical reports and design documentation.
    • Research and implement new technologies and methodologies for use in testing of product.
    • Support internal and external resources such as laboratory support personnel, outside vendors, consultants, technicians, and interns.
    • Design and execute experiments that stress capability of the process using statistical methods to verify viability.
    • Execute protocols or provide instruction/monitoring of protocols during execution.
  • Aid in the maintenance of capabilities in the research and development laboratory in a status that can support the requirements associated with testing to support product development.
  • Work as a team member to accomplish plant and corporate goals while fostering global harmonization.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience
    • May have an advanced degree with less than 3 years of work experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with design controls, product development, and test method development/validation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and international regulations such as ISO 13485, ISO 11040, ISO 11608 and 21CFR Parts 210, 211, and 820 preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of 3D design applications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of statistics a plus. 
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to domestic and international customers as well as West manufacturing location as project requirements dictate.

 

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work (30 - 40%) in a laboratory and/or shop floor environment

 

Competencies/Authorities
