Job Summary:

In this role, you will Perform technical tasks within a laboratory setting to analyze and test the electro-mechanical functionality of West products.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is proficient in conducting root cause investigations of field units with little or no assistance.
  • Is proficient in laboratory test equipment operation and maintenance such as Instron, CT scanner, oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, microscopes.
  • Has effective time management skills and can easily adapt to changes in priorities; needs little to no assistance in determining priorities and deliverables.
  • Is able to contribute to the design and development of new tests and debugging methods.
  • Focuses on quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
  • Takes immediate action after identifying critical product issues. Assists with corrective action when necessary. Contacts appropriate support and/or management to ensure issues are reported and resolved.
  • Utilizes on the job experience, critical thinking skills, and root cause analysis methodologies to assess technical problems and assist in atypical tasks.
  • Has effective writing skills and is able to communicate findings in a technical, concise, and effective manner with little to no assistance. Documents investigations reports per procedures.
  • Acts as an informal resource for fellow investigators or colleagues with less experience. Is able to assist in training new investigators on the processes and use of laboratory equipment.
  • Facilitates teamwork, cross training, and collaboration between departments to maximize processes and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrates a “Customer Service” approach to all activities and assignments.
  • Identifies and resolves potential safety hazards. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment. Is a model for working safely within the laboratory.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Minimum of High School or equivalent
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Education: Associates Degree or equivalent, basic electronic training (AET or military)
  • Experience: Preferred 10+ years technical experience in electro-mechanical analysis, medical device field
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times

  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time


Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from offices and building sites.
  • If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues. Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet.
  • The ability to lift and carry various items up to 50 pounds for manufacturing positions or 30 pounds for administrative positions as required.
  • Handling of biohazard material and components.
