Job Summary:

In this position, you will be responsible for developing, leading and executing account strategies for key strategic customers that lead to increased sales, profit, and market share. The Director, Global Accounts has a deep understanding of the customers which informs account strategies that will outperform competitors and position West for sustained growth through successfully delivering differentiated solutions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads cross-functional teams to sell complete business solutions to strategic global accounts to drive long term growth for the company. 
  • Engages in dialogue with executives and understands overall strategic objectives and organizational unmet needs.
  • Identifies ways to partner to accomplish short and long term objectives including gaining agreement (internally and externally) on compelling deal structures matching customer and West’s long- term strategic objectives.
  • Understands market trends including relevant competitors, technology and regulatory issues to keep customer informed.
  • Develops a position of trusted advisor by providing consultative, strategic advice that assists in the attainment of customer's goals.
  • Serves as a valued contributor during the strategic planning process by contributing industry benchmarking data and experience as well as critical insights to customers key initiatives and goals.
  • Creates strategic account plans to drive key initiatives and growth within accounts.  Presents to executives to inform on customer growth and strategic direction,
  • Various administrative duties including demand planning, pipeline management, CRM activities, and other tasks as required.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor's in relevant scientific, engineering, or business fields or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years work experience in a variety of functions and industries, including significant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or its suppliers’ industries, ideally in a business-to-business environment

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English; excellent Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills as communication tools
  • Commitment to leading, supporting, and working in diverse teams
  • Experience in both direct and matrixed management
  • Broad experience in tangentially related fields of interest, including Big Pharma, biotech, and industry
  • Agile leadership capabilities to both lead and participate in high-performing teams
  • Able to speak in public, both internally (within the corporate environment) and externally (with customers or industry groups, or at relevant events)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy in a fast paced environment
  • Able to operate with significant autonomy; self-starter and a decision maker
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety and quality policies at all times

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time, including internationally

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Sedentary - exerting force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met
  • Able to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with written and oral skills, make quick decisions, interpret data, read & write, speak in front of groups, express & exchange ideas, understand direction and adhere to procedures
  • Physically able to travel by all common modes of transportation, including air, train, automobile, and bus
  • Able to perform well in high-stress, time-sensitive work environment, including scrutiny by executive-level management
  • Maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations
  • Able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve, and prioritize
