Job Summary:

In this role, you will collaborate and lead activities of the cross functional teams comprising technical experts within the R&D function, across West’s products portfolio, focusing on drug delivery. You will require to demonstrate creative skills in a dynamic environment along with an engineering expertise attitude. You are expected to participate in the development of multi-disciplinary product involving mechanical, plastic, metal and electronics design.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and design of products assembly, special tooling and fixtures
  • Making conceptual design, detailed design, CAD modeling and prototyping
  • Utilize design analyses tools including theoretical calculations for components fit, tolerance analysis and stress calculations
  • Procurement of commercial off-the-shelf components
  • Perform evaluation testing and define product specs
  • Writing and approval of technical protocols, tests methods and presentations related to design activities
  • Performing and/or supervising testing of new and existing products, writing and/or approve tests reports
  • Managing ECOs activities
  • Support validation of products
  • Support industrialization and manufacturing activities
  • Work closely with internal interfaces (Engineering, QA, HF and RA groups) as well as external interfaces such as other groups across the organization
  • Manage and work with subcontractors that support product production
  • Lead and support procurement of commercial off-the-shelf components
  • Support industrialization and manufacturing activities
  • Conduct R&D mechanical team Engineering Change Orders related activities
  • Interface with West customers (e.g. pharmaceutical and biotech companies) as needed in development agreement, for activities led by mechanical engineering team 
  • Collaborate and lead projects activities with other R&D teams across the organization

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Five (5) or more years related experience in products design
  • Proficiency in 3-D CAD software such as SolidWorks
  • Experience with mechanism design
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Experience with medical devices design
  • Knowledge and experience in stack-up analysis and other measurements methods

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in plastic part design, sheet metal components, mechanical assembly, injection molding and other manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge in assembly processes
  • Must be proficient (verbal and written skills) in English. Hebrew is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in PCB manufacturing
  • Experience with medical industry standards
  • Experience with plastic injections, molds and parts design
  • Experience with sheet metal parts design
  • Experience with writing design requirements, engineering test protocols and reports etc
  • Experience in developing test methods for engineering verification tests

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10-20 % of the time
