Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for the replenishment of the direct materials required for production of Administration systems and in case needed support replenishment of Drug Delivery items and assists with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization. Evaluates all continuous improvement activities and implements plans to optimize performance and processes. Employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.


This person will be the organization’s leader in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, will support West strategy and lead the plant to meet our strategic goals. The position is to lead and deliver operational improvements through the strategic deployment of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools and techniques.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Material Planning and Inventory Management

  • Oversee West IL RM inventory levels and adjust procurement plan accordingly
  • Run MRP reports defined to meet commercial and production needs
  • Set and manage safety stock levels meet production plan and in accordance to inventory targets
  • Interface with relevant functions for artwork approval prior to issueing POs
  • Transfer materials between sites to balance inventory levels as needed
  • Drive cost reductions and improvements initiatives across org
  • Issue Purchase Orders, via the ERP system, to approved suppliers to procure materials
  • Approve invoices of suppliers and service providers
  • Act as the focal point for suppliers in aspects related to routine direct materials replenishment
  • Track deliveries plan from the suppliers to West IL and inform in a timely manner on any delays


Lean Manufacturing


  • Drive the West Business System for West IL (Lean & Continuous Improvement)      
  • Maturity Modelling – Run the maturity model as it’s given by the Global Operational Excellence group. Define an action plan to close gaps and share the responsibilities across the plant.
  • Toolbox Application –  Help the organization with results orientation, problem solving, data analysis and improvement tool selection.
  • Culture/Behaviour  -
    • Coordinate Operational Excellence Gemba Walks with participants and assigned areas.
    • Focus on creating a relationship to shop floor with proactive communication
    • Make sure that each employee has the opportunity to raise ideas / questions

    • Go and see other Gembas (other companies) at least once a year

    • Work on closing gaps in the skill matrix
    • Support the internal trainees with expertise
      • Incl. Lean Basics, White Belt, Yellow Belt, Kaizen Leader
      • Excl. Green Belt, Black Belt, Champion (supported by the global provider)
      • Work on development of individual other practical lean trainings


  • Process Improvement
    • Support and lead different improvement projects like Value Stream Optimization, (bottleneck) OEE improvements, Kaizens
    • Participate to the improvements of existing processes in the plants. Identify “best practice” processes to maintain industry leadership. Ensure that any new process is developed in accordance with Lean Principles


Basic Qualifications: 

  • B.Sc in Industiral Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of experience in materials planning, procurement and inventory management
  • Experience in ERP, Priority software an advantage
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing Environment
  • Opex known qualifications (YB, GB, BB, Six Sigma, Kaizen proven accomplishments)
