Job Summary:

In this role you will join a team of local engineers, focused on providing engineering support to the site systems and process equipment across the site. Your role will require close interaction with other departments including Engineering, QA, HSE, Operations, Planning, and process area managers and leads to deliver efficient execution of the asset project programs. The scope of this role is wide and varied including asset management from justification through life cycle, equipment trouble shooting, system improvements / upgrades, engineering plant documentation and drawings, project design and management and operational excellence and driving execution to meet dept. metrics. In this role you will provide engineering expertise in further developing different facility and equipment programs and will be key to providing day to day engineering continuity & technical support for equipment issues. You will support the successful execution of key department programs and activities across all areas of the site, you will have responsibility for assigned expense and project budgets and accountability.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Innovation, Projects and Improvement Initiatives

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and cross-functional teamwork
  • Managing to completion installation projects, manufacturing equipment and utility system upgrades, continuous improvement, and energy improvement initiatives
  • Support commissioning / validation on existing and new equipment and projects
  • Managing outside contractors / vendors
  • Assist in the development and design of Mech / Elec / HVAC specifications for projects undertaken within the ME department

 

Asset Management

  • Provide engineering expertise to support delivery of the day to day planned and reactive activity
  • Experience using lean six sigma principles, RCA’s, FMECA’s for root cause identification and evaluating underlying issues. Quantify issues using 6 sigma tools pareto and DMAIC
  • Identify, propose, and promote opportunities to reduce cost
  • Be actively involved in lean initiatives to drive efficiencies
  • Coordinating with planning and operations to schedule assigned project work to ensure operational efficiency and minimize process downtime
  • Coordinate with other functions to support and manage local budgets as well as locate suppliers and complete purchases
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating relevant departmental SOP and SOI’s

 

Health and Safety

  • Always meet plant safety requirements for projects and equipment
  • Coordinate safe systems of work in relation to permits as required by the company and regulatory
  • Ensure equipment compliance to corporate guidelines, safety regulations and regulatory requirements

 

Cost and Budget

  • Ensure any assigned budgets are managed from the local and global levels
  • Contribute to the development of capital project proposals and manage associated capital budget
  • Ensure assigned projects are completed in a timely manner, within budget and with proper regard for safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance

 

Engineering Quality Compliance

  • Maintain the compliance and validation state of equipment and ensure they are continually in a state of “Audit Readiness”
  • Ensure compliance with all global engineering requirements as related to equipment / facilities
  • Utilize technical knowledge to assist in determining root cause of equipment failures and facilitate corrective actions
  • Initiate and execute deviations, change controls and CAPA’s
  • Investigate and document procedural and operational deviations
  • Create, modify, and track change control documentation to manufacturing equipment and systems
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required e.g., Automation, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facility or maintenance engineering teams, preferably in manufacturing GMP environment
  • Knowledge and experience of CMMS systems is essential, ideally SAP
  • Ability to build and maintain strong organizational skills

Travel Requirements:

  • <10% as needed

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job on the production floor, the employee regularly stands, walks, talks, and hears
  • Noise level in the work environment while on the production floor is usually moderate to loud
  • Must be self-motivated, must have excellent people skills, written and verbal communication, problem solving, coaching, training, relationship building, managing resistance and project management skills
  • Must follow and comply with company dress and hygiene policies and procedures
