Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Process Engineering Manager this role is responsible for process design, validation, continuous improvement, and ongoing support of automated molding, trimming, and inspection cells within the Kinston, NC facility.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute validation protocols for the installation of new equipment.
  • Develop, validate, and train personnel on processes associated with the operation and maintenance of automated robotic manufacturing cells.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of injection molding machines, articulated robots, servo trim presses, and machine vision inspection equipment. 
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and process issues
  • Establishes relationships with the customers and equipment suppliers in pursuit of product development, manufacturing process development, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other engineering departments on the development of new and/or improved automated manufacturing cells.
  • Work with all departments across the business to ensure that new processes meet their requirements.
  • Ensure that the procedures and systems are in place to facilitate the introduction of new processes and equipment.
  • Take the role of technical expert in relation to automated process equipment and develop the understanding and competency of the business to meet the requirements of customers.
  • Directly supervise and oversee day to day activities of automation process technicians in support of automation cells. 
  • Act in accordance with the company’s Guiding Principles and adherence to the corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance to all site Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training, and regulations.
  • Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures, and corporate policies.
  • Perform additional duties at the request of the direct manager.



Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in a suitable engineering subject and at least 3 years’ relevant experience.

  • Previous experience with design, programming, and maintenance of integrated robotic manufacturing cells.
  • Previous experience in equipment integration and high-volume product handling
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to accurately document work performed.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment as well as take a hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Must be able to travel as required by the position.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks; must be detail orientated and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work independently on own projects while working concurrently with all departments and levels of employees.
  • Must be able to direct, guide, and mentor process engineering technicians on activities that directly support business objectives. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Including Outlook, Word, Excel, & Power Point)


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical or other heavily regulated industry
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD modeling software (preferably AutoCAD or Solid Works)
  • Injection molding experience and/or die punching experience
  • Familiarity with machine vision systems
  • Experience programming articulated robots and PLC Ladder Logic
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.


Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time
