Job Summary: Utilize the DMAIC (Design Measure Analyze Implement Control) processes to provide technical and functional assistance to the engineering and production teams.  Participate and execute validation activities for molding, packaging, and other processes as required.  Be a key driver in improving plant KPIs related to yield, COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) by implementing solutions that are sustainable and drive value for the business.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering with new equipment installation, project start-up and debug.
  • Assist engineering with development of specifications for new processes.
  • Identify process improvements, propose solutions for implementation and drive to execution.
  • Assist with drafting and executing validation protocols and supplementary documentation.
  • Able to identify, communicate and assist with the required removal of molds as necessary.
  • Prepare molds and molding presses for production operation including but not limited to set-up, clean-up/conditioning runs and eccentricity checks.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process; take necessary steps to document and implement changes.
  • Ability to identify out of specification occurrences and notify the proper resources to drive resolution.
  • Monitoring the SPC (Statistical Process Control) data such as flange thickness, eccentricities and control charts for quality.
  • Use Infinity software to monitor flange or web thickness data.
  • Assist engineering with preparation of records, charts and graphs of process data.
  • Assist Quality Assurance group on customer quality issues as necessary.
  • Ability to proficiently operate injection molding machines and relieve operators as necessary.
  • Train and assist production and maintenance with equipment set up and process issues.
  • Occasionally required to work alternate shifts to support new equipment/process development.
  • Capable of operating material handling equipment to support injection molding equipment and processes.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure work area is clean, neat and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Some knowledge of rubber manufacturing and automation equipment preferred.
  • Current forklift certification or able to obtain license within 30 days of employment.
  • Must pass pre-employment testing which may include the following: vocabulary comprehension, math and basic mechanics.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Some experience in machine assembly, machine maintenance and lean manufacturing (DMAIC).
  • Computer literate and capable of technical writing and drawing comprehension.
  • cGMP knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented personality.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Eager to fully understand and take ownership of specified process area.
  • Ability/courage to successfully communicate with any required parties.

Physical, Mental and Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and work/lift items up to 50lbs.
  • Required to regularly stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • The employee continuously is required to use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Regular full-time employee works 40 hours a week. Some overtime is required.
  • Must follow and comply with Plant’s Dress and Hygiene Code Standard Operating Instructions.
  • Must follow and comply with all Company and Plant policies, procedure, rules and State and Federal laws.
  • Minimal travel requirements <5%.
