This position is a 12 hour day shift.  Three Days one week, Four Days the following week.

Job Summary:

Ideal candidates are quick thinking and confident to ensure consistent processing and foresight to know the next task required.  Acting with minimum supervision to ensure the molds are cleaned and prepped to the highest quality.  Exhibits qualities of a leader, owning the responsibilities and desiring to help the department to meet its full potential.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain certifications to operate molding presses
  2. Plan and perform line clearances
  3. Ensure completion of PM’s on or before schedule due dates
  4. Set up molding presses for production operation including but not limited to cleaning molds, set-up, clean-up, conditioning runs, apply mold release, eccentricity checks, and visual checks
  5. Perform the installation and removal of molds and other associated machinery and equipment; assuring that adequate materials and equipment are at the required location to perform this work in the safest, most effective and most efficient manner possible
  6. Proficient in troubleshooting and/or problem-solving molding related issues.  Prepare molding solution as required or requested and ensure processes are running within the predetermined control parameters. This includes making adjustments within allowable limits and/or evaluating operator techniques and/or evaluating materials to ensure acceptable products
  7. Work with mold cleaning and other Mold Utility Operators to determine and optimize various task such as continuing to work on faster mold changeovers, resolving reoccurring set-up and molding issues.
  8. Coach team members to help improve their knowledge and skills
  9. Communicate with all Team Members, including Area Managers, Process Engineers
  10. Coordinate with the Mold Utility Technicians throughout the shift to ensure work assignments are distribute
  11. Send out reports periodically during the shift and at end of shift
  12. Work with Planning to create a weekly mold cleaning list
  13. Assist Engineering and Maintenance when necessary
  14. Assist in lean and six sigma projects supporting operational excellence initiatives when asked
  15. Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs
  16. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules
  17. Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of Leadership experience preferred
  • Must be able to operate a lift truck for material handling as needed
  • May be asked to take a Mechanical Comprehension test
  • Must have a good knowledge of the working tools of the trade
  • Must be willing and able to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to independently problem solve technical and/or mechanical issues
  • Make general decisions within authorized areas of job responsibilities
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence (Ex. End of shift report, detailed emails, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Ability to work with various computer software programs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate’s degree related to a technical discipline or working towards their degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 1-year Manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schedules, diagrams, and procedure manuals

 

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Stand and walk for 12 hrs. per shift
  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures (250°F - 850°F) for short durations
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lb. unassisted
  • Pull molded materials from the mold presses (involving pull forces of ~ 50 - 60 lbs. or less for short durations) with multiple iterations per cycle and 6 – 8 cycles per hr.
  • Frequent above shoulder height work to pull molded product from the top mold
  • Frequent stretching and arm extension work on mold presses
  • Frequent bilateral grip/grasp and manual dexterity work required
  • Pushing or pulling of wheeled objects weighing 500+ lbs. or less for short periods of time and/or over short distances
  • Frequent bending and twisting as required by the job
  • Must also be able to tolerate industrial odors and smells on a frequent basis. 
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
