Job Summary:
Prepare shipments and paperwork for delivery. Receive and process daily freight shipments. Maintain organization of the warehouse and receiving area. Deliver materials to and from production floor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, store and distribute supplies and materials as directed. Assist with incidental movement of plant equipment and material
- Cross-check shipping and ordering documents with actual receipts; prepare and distribute receiving slips and / or computer data. Make out necessary production and / or accounting forms
- According to procedures, remove and identify samples of raw materials and ship to laboratory. Spot-check weights of raw materials when unloading or before shipping.
- Following shipping procedures, select items to be shipped, make up cases, pack in proper containers in prescribed amounts, seal and identify, and deliver to shipping point.
- Responsible for processing items for parcel post, air mail, foreign shipments, and any other shipping documents, as required. Perform various inventories, as required.
- Keep equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition.
- In the event of breakdown or shortage of material in original assigned work area. Perform other department assignments following work assignments procedures.
- Keep Shipping Supervisor informed of any off-standard work and any unusual or unsafe conditions.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety rules and safety regulations.
- Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly condition. Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Train employees by using On the Job Training Processes.
- Perform duties in other areas as needed.
- Perform back up duties for shipping specialist in their absence.
Basic Qualifications:
Education or Equivalent Experience: High School or equivalent
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail
- Able to perform in a fast paced environment
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks
- Experience with SAP software program
Travel Requirements:
- None
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Able to operate various powered industrial trucks
- Able lift and transport items weighing up 50 Pounds
- Must be able to read and interpret documents
