Job Summary:

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer acts as a key technical person responsible for proactive failure identification, resolution of repetitive failures and long-term issues to define the reliability strategy for maximum productivity uptime afforded to production teams. This individual will also be expected support the facilities/maintenance and engineering groups as required.  Responsible and accountable for adherence to procedures, quality, production, maintenance, safety and schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide recommendations for future equipment modifications to increase maintainability and to reduce scheduled/unscheduled downtime (e.g. – better access means, remote lubrication options, etc.).  Recommendations should be supported by suitable risk assessment process.
  • Manage proposed changes for equipment and processes via suitable means including and up to formal change control process, supported by Maintenance Supervisors to drive completion.
  • Develop critical spare parts lists (mechanical and electrical) for equipment/systems utilizing Maintenance and other sources.  Provisions for end-of-life components must be made including upgrades, rebuilding/repair, or used stock.
  • Evaluate methods for control of critical spare parts (e.g. – stock, local pick-up, etc.).
  • Assist Maintenance with alternate parts sourcing.
  • Develop preventative maintenance task sheets/procedures and harmonize between types of equipment/systems as necessary (e.g. – standardizing on electric motor/bearing lubrication methods for all equipment, similar tasks for similar equipment, etc.).
  • Develop/Implement both preventative and predictive maintenance practices to minimize scheduled/unscheduled downtime.
  • Generate and utilize Pareto Charts, or other suitable trending means, to identify and analyze equipment failures and to prioritize maintenance functions and equipment improvements.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on equipment failures and develop strategies to prevent recurrence, if possible.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams consisting of Production Team Members, Maintenance Team Members, Project Engineers, Supervisors and Craftsmen, using RCM, FMEA and other methodologies
  • Organize Proactive Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) - sessions and reactive root cause analyses

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Field, Mechanical or Electrical preferred, or
  • 10 or more years of practical experience in Technical, Industrial and Manufacturing Troubleshooting with training/experience in relevant Reliability Engineer field
  • Must have effective problem solving and interpersonal skills, written and verbal
  • Must be able to manage resources effectively & efficiently.
  • Ability to work through problems and develop appropriate, successful solutions
  • Able to exercise independent judgment with limited instruction and guidance
  • Proficient of computer/PC use including Microsoft Office
