Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Support West Pharma's portfolio of Linux Servers across the landscape including development, quality & mission-critical production environments
  • Knowledge in all areas of administration like Design, Installation, Configuration, Backup & Recovery, Performance Tuning, Scripting etc
  • Perform scheduled maintenance & patch deployment to ensure compliance
  • Setting up High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions
  • Experience with Environment Monitoring, Performance Tuning and Optimization
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution
  • Experience in maintaining cloud-based platforms for networking, compute & storage
  • Responsible to setup & document production policies, security baseline, procedures & instructions
  • Responsible for ensuring SoX & GxP compliance along with Audit support
  • Demonstrate domain knowledge in storage, data management, and data protection technologies and be able to apply the knowledge of these methodologies to the storage, protection, retention, reclamation, and disaster recovery
  • Provide necessary architectural oversight for any implementation, recommendation or changes in supported environments initiated through periodic reviews, audits conducted by internal delivery assurance groups
  • Develop, implement, and maintain server administrative authorization to have policies and procedures
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the processes and documentation for server management
  • Ability to work and align with different teams in a global virtual environment with L3 production support as required
  • Provide necessary architectural oversight for any implementation, recommendation or changes in supported environments initiated through periodic reviews, audits conducted by internal delivery assurance groups

 

 Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s/Post-Graduate degree in Science, Technology or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5-6 Years of hands-on experience of Linux Administration
  • Preferred but not required: Agile & Scrum, ITIL Certification

 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Advanced proficiency in Linux platforms specifically SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server (SLES) & Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Proven experience administering, troubleshooting and performance tuning SLES/RHEL in an SAP environment
  • Deep understanding of integration between different layers like Storage, Database & SAP server Infrastructure in Azure
  • Proven experience in setting up SUSE Clusters for High Availability (HA) along with expertise in replication scenarios for Disaster Recovery (DR)
  • Ability to automate & develop solutioning using Shell Scripting, Python, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform & Ansible templates etc
  • Proven experience working with Windows/Linux platforms in a virtualized environment both on-premises & cloud (Azure)
  • Able to define & implement Security Baseline for overall OS Security Compliance including user access control & audit logging
  • Subject matter expertise in Application Lifecycle Management activities like Patching, Managing SMT server repositories, Disk Space Management (LVM), User and Group Management, Job Scheduling, Networking, Network File Systems etc
  • Ability to integrate Cloud Managed services like Managed Databases, Caching Engines, Load Balancers & Services
  • Working knowledge of In-Memory applications like HANA & distributed SAP landscape will be considered an advantage
  • Knowledge of patch cycle management for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server (SLES) using SUSE Manager
  • Experience administering EMC Avamar/Data Domain, VMWare vSphere 6.x environments, VMware Horizon View, VMware ESXi and VMware vSAN is a plus
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages like VMware PowerCLI, Python, Shell, etc is a plus
  • Willing and able to continuously upgrade skills, abilities and knowledge
  • Work effectively independently and collaboratively
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Experience and desire to work in a global delivery environment
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving ability along with excellent communication skill
  • Participate in an On-Call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours.
  • Willingness to travel globally
