Job Summary:

The Engineer in this role will research, ideate, pitch, design, prototype and test new concepts and technology initiatives in collaboration with a global multidisciplinary team.  The engineer will be responsible to ensure that efforts conform with the project objectives.  The engineer will possess a good command of engineering principles and demonstrate talent for design and problem solving. The engineer must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment or as an individual contributor as required by the project need.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform research to identify relevant emerging medical device industry trends and technologies that support the development of new product concepts.
  • Apply biomedical engineering to generate new product concepts to support team objectives.
  • Preparation of visual and oral presentations to pitch new product ideas to management and stakeholders.
  • Drive assigned projects and track progress of assigned tasks as required (scope, budget, schedule, and task).
  • Generate solid models, drawings, schematics, or other specifications required to produce prototypes.
  • Prototype product concepts by leveraging internal and external capabilities.  
  • Assemble prototype product concepts, and test function and performance.
  • Collaborate across business functions as required to accomplish personal and group objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelors degree and/or master’s degree in biomedical, chemical, materials or mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrated competence in design for multifaceted biological systems
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a product design/development role.
  • Product design and development experience.
  • Able to plan, communicate, and execute assigned projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Solidworks design software a plus.
  • 3-D Printing and prototyping experience.
  • Design and development of specialized test fixtures and methods.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and design of experiments in Minitab.
  • Familiar with LabView software and programming.
  • Familiar with prototyping using Arduino and other development electronics hardware / software.
  • Experience in electromechanical medical device design
  • Familiar with design control, FDA 820.30, ISO-13485, ISO-11608, IEC-60601, and other related standards.



Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time

  • Maintain high attention to detail, accuracy, and overall quality of work.
  • Effectively communicate and interface with various levels internally and with customers.
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
  • Must be able to work in an office/home office/lab environment.
