Job Summary:

The Facility Engineering Department has an essential role within West´s global facilities team to support new growth globally. In this role you will lead the facility engineering element for Global Facility Engineering while supporting the surge growth in project engineering & management. Provide consistent technical engineering support and guidance to the global facilities to achieve corporate goals for Quality, Overall Efficiency, Cost Reduction, Safety and Well-being.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely and proactively with Operations, Program Management, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering and HSE teams to develop facility engineering solutions for planned expansions and other projects
  • Take the lead in new projects as facility project engineer/ manager for all facility & equipment disciplines including design reviews, commissioning reviews, operation reviews, and perform constructability analysis during the design phase in close alignment with our external engineering partners and plant engineering teams
  • Establish the engineering expectations for new facility investment projects (Greenfields and plant rebuilds) by communicating the engineering guidelines and establishing clear basis of design documentation.
  • Take an active part in the evaluation and selection of external partners such as engineering consultants and building contractors. Collaborate with and manage external consultants and contractors in building projects to ensure that project tasks and deliverables are being achieved
  • Develop & drive standardization and harmonization of existing & new global facilities and implement standards at any new projects with a focus and ownership of facility systems. 
  • Execute and direct new projects in line with West facility Engineering Project Execution Strategy
  • Provide consistent technical support to the various global sites by being the subject matter experts (SME) for mechanical, electrical and energy management systems in West globally.
  • Ensure that GMP aspects, current technical standards, local building codes and regulations and safety standards for the buildings are being considered and met.
  • Support the development and maintenance of engineering guidelines
  • Where required support the Global Facility Engineering Network in establishing and providing consistent technical engineering support and guidance to achieve corporate goals for Quality, Overall Efficiency, Cost Reduction, Safety and Well-being
  • Ensure there are sufficient preventive and corrective maintenance procedure in place for safe operation of all electrical, mechanical & water system
  • Ensure facilities are operating as efficiently as possible to minimize their impact on the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical/ Building Service Engineering.
  • 5 years’ experience in design/construction/operation in Pharma or Medical device industry
  • Excellent understanding of design and construction, operations & maintenance of electrical & mechanical systems & equipment.
  • Detail knowledge of Project execution in the pharma industry
  • Detailed engineering knowledge of HVAC & utilities with ability to assert technical solutions and standards in an international environment including Energy conservation knowledge
  • Strong engineering and troubleshooting skills (facility engineering equipment integration etc)

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical/ Building Service Engineering.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in design/construction/operation in Pharma or Medical device industry
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
