Job Summary:

This role is part of an agile, flexible, and dynamic research and development team of engineers and scientists.  The team is pioneering the development of solutions which address unmet needs in the medical field ranging from novel drug delivery and containment to diagnostic sensing. You will develop new technologies to challenge hypotheses utilizing rapid prototyping and fast cycle methodologies.  You will focus on supporting the development of core solutions for future generations of product families and prove the key aspects of those solutions through quantitative and qualitative scientific research.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external team resources to:
    • Challenge assumptions to produce novel concepts
    • Identify project requirements
    • Develop, execute, and document project deliverables in compliance with committed timelines and project goals
    • Maintain design records associated with assigned projects and scientific endeavors
  • Design and develop specifications to produce prototypes and test hypotheses
  • Develop tooling and fixtures for the manufacture and test of design concepts and novel materials and applications
  • Lead the execution of prototype builds
  • Develop and execute testing to characterize technologies and material performance
  • Engage with company and industry experts to accelerate the learning curve
  • Analyze and evaluate testing results to make informed and well-reasoned strategic recommendations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, Material Science, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 Years of experience in product design/development
  • Experience with CAD applications (preferably Solid works)
  • Self-starter with high curiosity and learning orientation
  • Exceptional technical ability and firm grasp on engineering fundamentals
  • Experience the design and implementation of new test methodologies
  • Proficiency with MS word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Complete multiple technical projects
    • Learn and apply new skills
    • Understand and communicate technical ideas and concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in medical device, material development, and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing methods including plastic injection molding, machining operations, and additive manufacturing (i.e. FDM, SLA, DLP, SLS, MLS)
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience executing design verification and validation activities
  • Skilled in the use of MATLAB or similar data analysis application(s)

 

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 15%
