The Specialist, Global Communications will provide general communications support across external and internal employee communications, public relations, community affairs and marketing communication campaigns, including writing and posting content to external and internal channels and coordinating events.

 

The Specialist for Global Communications will report directly to the Director, External Global Communications, and work alongside their colleagues within the business to help to position West as a leader in the industry and to engage team members to drive business results.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provides support to directors and managers in the department to help execute internal and external Global Communications initiatives
  • Writes draft press materials, blogs, website and social media content, as well as internal stories
  • Manages content posting to PR newswire, website, social media channels and Intranet
  • Coordinates special events (town halls, customer meetings, press events, etc.)
  • Maintains the Corporate Communications editorial calendar, working with communications colleagues to ensure integrated and consistent messaging to stakeholders
  • Coordinates photography needs for the business
  • Develops PowerPoint presentations for executives for both internal and external use
  • Develops graphics to use with social media posts
  • Manages the internal review process to secure approval for corporate and product communications content
  • Monitors and helps manage public comments on West’s social media channels
  • Stay in-tune and make recommendations on new or enhanced social communication channels to enhance internal communication effectiveness
  • Partner with business owners to maintain and update appropriate website content
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's in Communications (PR), Marketing Communications or Journalism
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience
  • Prior Corporate Communications or Public Relations work experience in a corporate or agency setting
  • Top-tier writing skills
  • Social media expert
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Agile working style

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience in Social Content Management Platforms (such as Sprout Social / HootSuite, etc.)
  • Experience in Web Content Management Systems (Sitecore, etc.)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
  • Experience in designing corporate materials
  • Proficient in a variety of Adobe Creative Suite tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
