Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead development of strategies, business models, commercialization and execute marketing models, that will enable top- and bottom-line growth for the Generics Market Unit. You will develop insights into our customers and their risks and opportunities and autonomously take projects to completion by assembling and leading cross-functional teams. You will translate these insights into West programs, offerings, and create go-to-market Commercial models that will enhance our ability to serve current and future customers better, which in turn should enhance West’s revenue, profitability, and market leadership amongst generics and vaccines customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective position of West products and services within the market
  • Maintain and enhance the overall West brand, and aligns with global communications to ensure consistency
  • Develop and implement communications and promotional plans which optimize the presence of West in the market, and at our customers
  • Work closely with product management to ensure effective branding and communication of specific products and technologies
  • Drive promotional and communication campaigns for the market unit
  • Determine the optimum positioning of West at trade shows, and manage participation
  • Develop marketing materials for the market unit
  • Ensure an effective web presence, and work with global communications and internal digital team to maintain and enhance content
  • Ensure the sales team has appropriate selling tools to support their activities
  • Operates as an effective team member within the unit, and interfaces with all relevant functions to ensure alignment
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules
  • Shape, assess and recommend solutions for key strategic questions in the segment
    • Assess alternate business models and path to market (distribution) for the segment
  • Develop and implement Pricing Strategies within the segment
  • Continuous improvement of the Market Unit Practices including market forecast and early key indicators
  • Build functional excellence capabilities into Strategic Marketing at West (e.g., business processes, business insight and decision-making tools)
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s and Graduate degrees (or equivalent) in relevant scientific, engineering, or business fields
  • >5 years work experience in a variety of functions and industries, including significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry or its suppliers’ industries, ideally in a business-to-business environment
  • Native or fluent written and verbal communication in English; excellent Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills as communication tools


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in both direct and matrixed management
  • Management/strategy consulting experience at a top firm
  • Broad experience in tangentially related fields of interest, including Big Pharma, biotech, and industry relevant venture capital, private equity, or investment banking of interest
  • Demonstrable commitment to development of diverse employees and mentees
  • Able to speak in public, both internally (within the corporate environment) and externally (with customers or industry groups, or at relevant events)
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.


Travel Requirements:

  • ~30% international travel required
  • Operating in a global delivery model requiring to work across time zones
