Summary: 

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering & Development or Senior Engineer this role is responsible for supporting manufacturing and contributing to the development and implementation of the business manufacturing strategy. Specifying, purchasing and managing the implementation of new manufacturing solutions to meet the requirements of customers’ new product introductions  or improve operational efficiency is also key to this role.

                         

Requirements:

  1. Must have a minimum of a National Diploma in a suitable Engineering subject (Preferably a Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering) and at least 5 years’ experience in technical project management.
  2. Must have knowledge in computer systems, word processing and spread sheets, and ideally in integrated manufacturing systems, Allen Bradley & Siemens PLC’s, Motion and Machine Control Systems.
  3. Must have knowledge of Robotics, Cognex Vision Systems, Barcode Scanning & RFID Automatic Identification and Data Capture  used in High Volume Manufacturing.
  4. Preferably have a knowledge of Industrial Networks (Ethernet IP,Control Net & Profibus) and has worked on an MES system.
  5. Must have a very good knowledge of manufacturing automation, machine design, development and validation process.
  6. Preferably worked in either the medical, packaging or technological industries with a good understanding of the regulatory requirements.
  7. Must have the ability to meet with customers in a previous employment.
  8. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to accurately document work performed.
  9. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  10. Must be able to travel as required by the position.
  11. Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks; must be detail orientated and self-motivated.
  12. Must be able to work independently on own projects while working concurrently with all departments and levels of employees.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  13. Responsible for leading/managing key activities within the operations engineering department
  14. Manage new equipment process and product introduction projects working alongside development engineers.
  15. Develop and implement manufacturing strategy to meet customer and Tech Group Europe needs.
  16. Establish and manage project teams, identifying deliverables, time and cost, setting priorities and reporting to meet the needs of the business and the customer.
  17. Establishes relationships with the customers and equipment suppliers in pursuit of new business, product development, manufacturing process development, continuous improvement and on-going business development.
  18. Manage equipment suppliers ensuring delivery meets specification, cost and time.
  19. Ensure that new equipment meets the regulatory requirements of the business. Validation, health and safety etc.
  20. Install new equipment with appropriate training and hand over to operations
  21. Work with all departments across the business to ensure that new processes meet their requirements.
  22. Identify, specify and introduce new manufacturing methods and opportunities into the company
  23. Represent Tech Group Europe at customer meetings to ensure that the needs of the business are met.
  24. Assist with the training and development of personnel at all levels of Tech Group Europe on new processes or systems introduced to the company.
  25. Ensure that the procedures and systems are in place to facilitate the introduction of new processes and equipment.
  26. Take the role of technical expert in the field of automated manufacturing processes and develop the understanding and competency of the business to meet the requirements of customers.
  27. Lead and manage a high performing team to deliver the defined business goals & objectives.
  28. Identification and development of talent to include performance management and succession planning (in the West Talent Gateway).
  29. Coaching / development of the employees using development and retention plans as appropriate.
  30. Act in accordance with the company’s Guiding Principles and adherence to the corporate Code of Conduct.
  31. Compliance to all site Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training and regulations.
  32. Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures and corporate policies.
  33. Perform additional duties at the request of the direct supervisor.

  • Change Request Approval & Close out.
  • Validation Documentation Approval.
  • Deviation Approval & Close out.

 

When absent from the site duties and responsibilities will be delegated to the following designates

  • Senior Engineer
  • Engineering Manager
  • Program Manager
