Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Sr. Mgr, Global Logistics and Distribution, the Manager, Global Logistics and Distribution is responsible for the performance and improvement of West’s Global Logistics and external Warehouse Operations.  The position will oversee transportation (air, sea, overland and small parcel), distribution (raw materials and designated finished goods inventory at external warehouses), and Logistics operations performance monitoring and improvement programs.  The Manager, Global Logistics and Distribution will oversee the implementation of new trade lanes, network distribution sites, and will provide oversight of and assistance for Plant logistics issues escalation and resolution. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement distribution strategy for Ireland Distribution Center
  • Develop recommendations for logistics strategy and execution process improvements and enhancements that promote efficiency, quality, and customer service
  • Execute WMS transactions and coordinate inbound/outbound distribution center transports
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Plant Supply Chain in requesting, reviewing, and approving new transportation quotes from external partners
  • Coordinate and prepare deliverables to business reviews and contract negotiations with preferred external partners
  • Monitor, improve and sustain Logistics and external Distribution performances metrics to meet or exceed targets
  • Serve as Global Logistics point of contact for special cross-functional projects and meetings
  • Reinforce overall Logistics and external Distribution performance and process efficiency to meet customer needs
  • Create and publish Global Logistics and external Distribution KPIs and performance reports
  • Align with peer groups and obtain endorsement of improvement priorities and implementation plans
  • Responsible for project management and execution for Logistics and external Distribution process improvements
  • Lead and facilitate community of practice and virtual centers of excellence in Global Logistics
  • Lead continuous improvement programs and projects that benefit or impact logistics business processes
  • Participate in annual risk assessment and business continuity plans with Security, Quality, etc.
  • Develop and maintain Global Logistics and external Distribution SOPs/Work Practices
  • Implement change management process and controls for Global Logistics and external Distribution business processes
  • Implement and/or leverage systems and technology to simplify, improve productivity, and enable predictivity of logistics planning & operations, and external Distribution operations
  • Monitor internal and external industry trends
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business Management, Supply Chain or Logistics curriculum, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Global Logistics implementation and execution
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of European Road, Warehousing, and Distribution areas
  • Warehousing/DCs, Plant Logistics, Plant Warehouse and/or DC Operations experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint report development skills.
  • SAP user experience and knowledge

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Significant logistics and warehouse operational experience
  • Understanding of end-to-end logistics processes
  • Hands on experience in supply chain operations and logistics project management
  • Understands supply chain, manufacturing operations, fulfilment, capital, and capacity metrics
  • Experience in reporting KPIs with leading indicators
  • Experience in managing cross-functional, international projects
  • Proven to possess highly developed project management skills
  • Working knowledge of supplier relationship management, contract management
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy always
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy always.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
