SummaryReport to the Product Development (R&D) Lab Manager, the Lab Technician will assist the product development team with test sample preparation, sample builds, perform engineering studies, verification testing activities and product sustainability. The individual will bring technical, hands on skills to the execution of development projects at West Dublin. This will include the successful execution of activities relating to the testing of new and propriety medical devices from feasibility/development /verification and commercialization phases.

                                                 

Requirements:

  • Education or equivalent experience: engineering diploma, mechanical background or equivalent
  • At least 3-5-years’ experience in a similar role & in a product development environment with hands on technical experience
  • Experience with Gauge R&R and qualification of engineering test fixtures, assembly fixtures, Test Method development & Test Method Validation, Engineering Studies, EVT, DVT
  • Experience in tensile, compression and torsion testing equipment is a distinct advantage

           

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Duties to include maintaining high standards of compliance with Health and Safety, Quality System and Proprietary/Customer requirements.
  • Duties to liaise with Product Design, Validation & Verification and Analytical Engineers to achieve project goals
  • Duties to include assisting the engineering team in the development of test methods, work instructions, and other documentation as required.
  • Duties to follow protocols required for Engineering Testing, Human Factors Engineering, Design Verification and Design Validation
  • Responsible for  Lab equipment, Lab SOP’s according to Lab performance needs and Global ESOP’s
  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the laboratory, ensuring samples are processed accurately, promptly, and efficiently within a controlled environment for testing.
  • Responsible for preparing test samples according to work instructions and procedures for engineering and verification testing.
  • Responsibility to actively participate in daily/weekly staff meetings
  • Responsible for meeting agreed deadlines
  • Responsibility to ensure good knowledge of relevant ISO standards
  • Needs to be an active hand on person to work in the Testing Laboratory with the R&D and product development team.
  • Needs to be a well-organized person with exposure/experience with 3D CAD, 3D printing & prototyping, MiniTab, MS Office suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and Lab relevant analysis and simulation software tools
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
