POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring the quality of the product by means of visual and dimensional inspections to plastic components during regular production. Participate and provide technical support applying accepting criteria to parts.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List primary duties and responsibilities of the job, in order of importance and with percentage of time spent on each duty / responsibility. If this is a management level position, include supervisory responsibilities.

  • Performs dimensional and visual inspection during regular production under established measuring methods. Might be assigned to inspect parts for validation activities purposes following new inspection methods.
  • Performs functional tests during regular production under established inspection methods.  Might be assigned to perform functional tests to parts for validations activities following new inspection methods.
  • Interprets drawings, plans, specifications, and test procedures for test and measuring equipment used in the areas of quality and operations. Basic knowledge in the techniques of statistical process as prevention of the quality system.
  • Basic knowledge of use of automatic and manual coordinate measuring equipment
  • Support process improvements, cost reductions/savings, scrap reductions, etc. through the implementation of LEAN concepts
  • Properly document all process-related data.
  • Follow all company policies and safety rules.
  • Must observe all good housekeeping practices
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other non-included tasks assigned by the Supervisor / Manager, according to the company/business needs, if they do not violate the safety or integrity of the employee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: List required education level and/or equivalent experience, number of direct reports and any required skills or certifications, consistent with West’s leveling guidelines.


  • Associate degree as instrumentalist or equivalent in experience in similar position, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in inspection and/or measurement of plastic components or similar position.

Language Skills:

  • Able to communicate in Spanish and English language.
  • Compose regular and technical memos and reports.
  • Understand, interpret, and execute complex instructions

Mathematical Skills:

  • Able to apply mathematical concepts such as:
    • Add, subtract, multiply, divide, ratios, percentages and statistical calculations.
  • Knowledge in metrology equipment such as optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, and indicators, among others.
  • Experience with technical and measurement documentation including 2D part drawings.

Computer Skills:

  •  Intermediate user knowledge of MS Office suite programs such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Power point.
  • Able to develop graphs and complex calculations on excel including the use of pivot tables.


  • No certifications required.

Interpersonal Relationships:

  • Internal: supervisors, managers, quality personnel, Operators.
  • External: external auditors, regulatory agency auditors, vendors and suppliers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: List any preferred education, skills, and/or experience.

  • Experience in injection molding environment preferred  
  • Knowledge in Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing principles preferred
  • Knowledge in computer use including Microsoft Office
  • English as a second language preferred

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:  List type of work environment (office, home, etc…), % of travel required or any other relevant working conditions.

  • Must be able to perform job duties as required with limited physical demands
  • Minimal to no travel requirements
  • 20/20 normal vision or corrected using aids
