Job Summary:

 

The Principal Solutions Architect-Mechanical, R&D, Hardware and Embedded Solutions works independently and has expert level capabilities and knowledge. Conceptualizes, oversees and designs the medical devices such as drug delivery systems for manufacturability with applicable standards. This is key role in the development of futuristic and next generation drug delivery systems as well as automation/robotics systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Possesses deep understanding of the complete solution offering from foreseeing new business opportunities, requirements, design document, Resource estimation, Material selection, Creating complex simulations & Risk Analysis.
• Leads a team of engineers to design and develop devices and also as individual contributor.
• Design, Simulation and Realization of medical devices that are compliant with FDA and other statutory agencies at a fast-paced manner
• Shows extensive thought leadership in designing the futuristic devices. 
• Trains and supports team members to enable their capabilities and accomplish the department’s priorities.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with the team and business to ensure collaboration and alignment within and outside of the R&D function.
• Using knowledge and expertise, solves unique and complex issues, recommends architecture and processes, recommends changes to existing architecture and processes, and also exceptions to architecture, technology, and process standards globally.
• Develop and build capabilities across various technology competency areas
• Manage the day to day work environment of employees and contractors in compliance and consistent with the West values, policies and procedures
• Helps drive agile and DevOps culture of implementation and product management culture.
• Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Post-graduation in Design Engineering / Industrial Design is a plus
• Minimum 8-10 years of related work experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Expert in the use of SolidWorks tool
• Knowledge of medical standards and practices such as IEC13485, 43 FR 31 508, GMP
• Expert level design skills supported by simulation using FEA, MATLAB or similar mathematical modelling.
• Expert level knowledge in materials, processes and sources applicable to medical devices
• Ability to work in a virtual environment in a global organization and to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with high flexibility and rapid response time
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced & complex environment with a self-motivated work ethic; utilize sound judgment with an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions and resolving complex problems related to general & technical aspects of the job. Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, policies and business practices to achieve results.
• Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.

 

Physical and Travel Requirements

• Up to 30% travel may be required
